21.6.2005: Schering Oy to become the main occupant of the Swing Life Science Center's fourth building - Etera to invest in the building.
Rakennusosakeyhtiö Hartela and Schering Oy have
signed a lease agreement for Schering Oy to move into
the Swing Life Science Center's fourth building as
the main tenant. The building will be completed in
June 2006.
Schering Oy is the largest, foreign-owned pharmaceutical
industry company operating in Finland. The company
employs around 800 pharmaceutical professionals in
Finland. Schering's operations located in Helsinki
i.e. marketing and sales together with clinical research
will be transferred to the Swing Life Science Center
from their present office in Pasila. Schering Oy believes
that the new premises will support the development
of the company's operations.
Locating Schering's centre of expertise in the Helsinki
metropolitan area in the Swing Life Science Center
logically supports the business concept of the business
park as an international life sciences cluster in
Finland.
The Swing Life Science Center's third building was
handed over to its main occupant, CSC (the Finnish
IT Center for Science) in March, and negotiations
are currently in progress concerning the use of the
fifth building. The 10-storey building that will become
the park's landmark is expected to be completed in
2007.
The deeds of sale for the fourth building were signed
on June 20, 2005. Etera Mutual Pension Insurance Company
exercised its previously agreed call option, and has
thus become the owner of the first four buildings
in the Swing Life Science Center.
30.9.2004: Topping out at the third Swing Life Science Center building
The topping-out ceremony for the third building at
the Swing Life Science Center was held today at Keilaniemi.
Construction has proceeded according to plan and the
building will be completed in March 2005. Contracts
for the 4th and 5th blocks are currently under negotiation
and the plan is that the entire 32,000 m2 development
for the life sciences cluster will be finished by
autumn 2006.
26.4.2004: Etera to invest in the third building at the Swing Life Science Center
The Etera Mutual Pension Insurance Company is also to invest in the Swing Life Science Center business park's third building which is still under construction. Buildings 1 and 2 of the first phase, which Etera acquired earlier, were completed in December 2003. The leading companies in their particular field in Finland, Finnzymes Oy and Rintekno Oy, are the main users of the buildings.
The third building will be completed in the spring of 2005. CSC, the Finnish IT Center for Science owned by the Ministry of Education, will be its main user. A total of five buildings have been planned for the Swing Life Science Center, and the remaining two will be completed in 2005-2006.
1.3.2004: Swing has its own electronic Service Portal
The internal intranet-type service portal at the Swing Life Science Center became operational in November 2003, a couple of weeks before the tenants had even moved into the first two buildings. Feedback from users of the portal has been very positive and in fact, one begins to wonder whether it is at all possible to operate efficiently in such large premises without an electronic service channel or a user handbook.
22.11.2002: LEL Employment Pension Fund invests in the Swing Life Science Center
The new life-science complex to be built at Keilaniemi has now been named the "Swing Life Science Center". Work is already under way on the structural frame and elevations of the first two buildings, which have been purchased by the LEL Employment Pension Fund.
18.9.2002: First two buildings reserved
The users of the first two buildings will be the leading Finnish enterprises in the field of life sciences - Finnzymes Oy and Rintekno Oy.
